a bipolaric post

Yesterday was racial harmony day! Absolutely awesome (:
Had great fun again yesterday. Every racial harmony day, we get to wear costumes and everything, and the school organises a concert and games and lots of time for food tasting and there was even banghrarobics this year.

And, DRUMROLL...
403 won the song competition. HURRAH
We seem to have a knack for these random inter-class competition things.
And with this rhd thing, we've done a hat trick. First was the national day dance last year, then the book day door decorating event when we did Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and then this year for the rhd competition when we sang our song sin no 90. hahaha.

SIN NO. 90

* In the book of 403 sins of the ancient sect 403, sin 90 is racial disharmony

Four hundred and three commandments
Sin number 90 is the worse
It is not nice
It is racial disharmony
Don’t be a racist

CHORUS 1
Grandma says
(ok maybe we wont disclose this part in case anyone miscontrues and thinks we're racist)
They’re (the diff. races) equally cool
So do not worry
United and one at heart

CHORUS 2

Racism and prejudice and bias
You should desist and deter or decompose
Respect and tolerance
And sing a song of love
So you deserve your holiday

look around
See the many faces smiling now (high: smiling now)
Today is racial harmony day
Stand as one
We will all go through together now (lower: together now)
One at heart
Singapore will overcome odds now.

CHORUS 1 & 2

Grandma says you have to respect
All the religions here
Or she will hit you on your head with her back scratcher
And you’ll cry and you’ll be sorry
(OWWWWWWWWWW)

So we will strive to be good kids
And listen to grandma and
Be racially harmonious
I swear I’ll learn to love my neighbors

So I love my country, people and all the races
We live in perfect harmony together now

Tthis is the order of the day
Unity in diversity

CHORUS 1 & 2
CHORUS 2

NICE?
yes i know its nice (:
hahaha. Apprently the judges said the song and the lyrics were really beautiful. (in spite of the sheep thing which we were all afraid might be misconstrued) Of course the song was written by the talented fiona and char. And viv and fiona and me wrote the lyrics. What the judges said was rather ironic but it made us happy nonetheless so GO 403. yay i love you guys.

Here comes the opposite pole.
I was reading a friend's blog today and i realised that she's going through a pretty tough patch.
I feel kind of bad for not noticing these things sometimes. I think i got so used to her being the funny one that i forgot that she could be sad too.
Those clowns you see in the circus, they could be the most depressed people in town.
Reading about what's happening to her makes me want to help, but sometimes its something people have to handle by themselves, and you're not a part of it, it's better not to get involved.
No matter how much you want to tell her that she's not alone.
This makes your own problems seem much less significant when your friend seems to be going through so much more.
But if you think about it both your problems seem so small when you compare yourselves to people who are dying of cancer, people who are family of those dying of cancer or anything else for that matter or people who have other problems larger than your own. I've been thinking about that because i've just finished "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult.

It's all a matter of perspective really.
Treasure life.
God's given you a life to live.
