whothe*arethearcticmonkeys
Yay arctic's latest EP is coming out tomorrow. I wonder how MDA is going to censor it when it gets here. I bet they will. Or maybe they won't allow it to be imported here but that is a worst case scenario. I'm saving my pocket money for it.
Anyway it's been a rather interesting week. But i can only remember as far back as thursday because as a spontaneous reaction to trauma my brain permanantly erased the memory of chemistry PT.
yes i was joking. it is not that evil but still i'd rather talk about book day.
Thursday was book day and I think it's the most fun i'd had since term started. Our class did Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I got to be Wonka which was immense fun. I got to act as crazy as i wanted. Hehe. My mum and i put my costume together. She made a top hat for me and i got out my black pants and black coat. Pictures later. Gotta go find the person who has them! The Oompa Loompas were absolutely hilarious. They did the augustus gloop dance. And our door is really pretty! Most of the class helped to do it under the artistic direction of van and bx i think. It's so lovely. I think this will be one of the best 403 memories.
Books Actually had a stall in the canteen and i bought 3 books. of matches. Haha. yeah.
They printed matchboxes to look like books. I got The Melancholy and Tragic Death of Oyster Boyby Tim Burton, The Cat in the Hat and another book i don't know the title of. But i liked it anyway.
Friday was InConvo on arts and culture and the speakers were Mr Lee from Substation and Ms Noorlina and Ms Joyce Teo from LaSalle. They're really cool people. They have a real and honest passion for arts that came through their speeches. The main issue now in discussions about arts and culture would be that most people go to mainstream productions (eg Disney on Ice/ PCK musical) and think that is the only form of art that is good. Hence the low attendance at really good arts performances like Robert Wilson (i have to look him up) and other local productions.
So as Ms Noorlina said she thinks that a quality arts education is important so that in the years to come there will be a discerning arts audience. Pretty intersting stuff. I hope all that happens and now i really feel like watching a local arts performace.
Friday was also Earth Day. Patrick was really nice and helped us judge inter-house photog even though i asked rather last minute. Patrick rocks (: The sec 3s' fighting fish are really nice too.
In the newspapers yesterday and today there were pretty big things.
Yesterday was the Arctic Monkeys. Ironically they are computer illiterate although the internet was what helped them make it big. But it also shows the importance of a strong fanbase. And today in the Sunday Times was about how RGS raised $130 000 for Shu Fang who has tongue cancer. Even though i've never known her, my heart goes out to her and i admire her honesty and fighting spirit. Lots of people also did really amazing things for her. Like Mrs Tan and some of the teachers & SLN people who visited her. The best thing i can do now is pray for her. If you haven't read the article yet go read, and help pray for her too (:
K its CMPS time again. Goal: Colorado in June!!
Till next time, love planet earth and BE GREEN.
Here's how.
