youth camp
It felt quite terrible to have to leave youth camp right after dinner today... didn't get to say bye to everyone because they were all at different parts of the church building...
So i smsed goodbye. Hehe.
Youth camp comes only once a year so i really look forward to it. And i think lots of people do too. (: It started yesterday... when i goofed the timing again, so nat and i ended up early. hahaha. sat in the church carpark waiting for 45 minutes....
Started with ice-breakers again. Usual ones like wacko... DOUBLE wacko.....
1st lesson of the camp was on "Building Bridges". Honestly i didn't really understand it... ah well...
All the girls got to sleep upstairs in the Youth I and II clasroom, which is nice and cosy and familiar to us sec 1s and 2s. Everyone looked like little worms in their sleeping bags. hehe. Was supposed to be lights out at 11, but when u put us in the same room that's quite impossible with all the laughing and people coming in late and waking everyone else up with the glaring lights. (not to be blamed though dearies. they were the i/cs who have meetings late into the night, so we'll all have fun the next day:)
Day 2 (and my last day at camp) got off to a good start. I never knew Nutella was sooo goood. Breakfast was yummy!
We had a prayer walk again this morning. And the 5 main topics were personal needs, thanksgiving, unity of the church, world peace (with things like murder, terrorism...) and evangelism (or a friend you would like to share about God with). Well the words "prayer walk" say it all. You pray and walk at the same time, and for each topic, you go with a different partner. It really is a meaningful experience if you put your heart into it...
Lesson 2 was on sensitivity, toward others. It was quite special because we analysed 2 video clips from "pao ba hai zi/homerun". Siew Hay is my new hero (: Most people concluded that he was the one acting out of thoughtfulness, kindness and according to principles.
The game today was fantastic: was Amazing Race. or rather "not so Amazing Race" in the words of the funky camp booklet by ollie.
We had from 2-5 pm this afternoon to complete 6 stations (all quite near the church building) with our groups. In sequence, we went to west coast park, haw par villa, kent ridge park ( we did something really crazy. we walked from hpv to kent ridge which took us 45 mins and half our lives..) ,harbourfront, ginza plaza and clementi woods. They gave these little slips of paper with a clue to the next station. Like "the sun, sand at sea at Ronald's feet".... Guess which one it was...hehe
And we had to recite a memory verse at each station. The most meaningful one to me was James 3:9-10. "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be."
Something important to meditate upon....
Had so much fun i didnt want to leave. But its off to visit relatives and for our holiday tomorrow. Can't have your cake and eat it too....
But im happy! Travelling really opens your eyes and yes of course its tons of fun. Yes, i did thank God for this opportunity (:
Now its the hollies, and as i was reminded by the nanny in the movie "Eloise at the Plaza"...
being bored is not allowed!!
hahahah. So it's time to have tons of FUNN!
so near yet so far...
